Adult Forum Series: The God We Proclaim
Adult Forums are a much-loved part of life at St. John’s. From 9am until 10am each Sunday, parishioners meet in our cozy library to drink coffee and to engage together on some subject of interest and relevance to our shared lives of faith.
Each Sunday from February 9th through the Sunday after Easter, we will be discussing a central tenant of the Christian faith from the Apostles’ Creed.
The Apostles’ Creed is an early articulation of the essentials of Christian faith. It was formalized in the 5th Century based on the affirmation of faith that was made by those being baptized in the early church. And it is still part of our baptismal liturgy today.
At the beginning of each forum, we will read a short sermon on the clause of the creed that we will be discussing that week. This will be a starting point for our discussion. No advance preparation is necessary. If you would like to read the sermons ahead of time, they can be found in the collection, The God We Proclaim, copies of which are available from the parish office.
Although the Creed offers a uniting theme to these forums, each week is standalone and participants are free to dip in and out.
