December 15, 5:30 p.m.
Christmas often comes with pressure to be full of seasonal cheer. And yet, there are times when we approach the crowning of the year with trepidation. Sometimes, as we anticipate Christmas, we feel the pain of absent loved ones, the stress of financial pressure, or the frustration of difficult family dynamics. Maybe we simply don’t feel joyous and find ourselves alienated by the celebrations around us. This contemplative service is an opportunity to gather with others to lament, to mourn, and to acknowledge our pain before God. A simple supper follows.
