George Herbert was among the greatest of the 17th Century English Metaphysical poets. In 1630, Herbert abandoned his successful career as an orator and academic at Cambridge University to become a country priest. His poetry, mostly published after his death in 1633 talks beautifully of the Christian faith, but also tells of his deep spiritual struggles.
These two forums, led by the Rev. Thomas Clement will be an opportunity to explore some of Herbert’s poems together.
Sundays, November 5th and 12th at 9am in the Library.
